Enhancing converstion rates

In my class this week, we are exploring various ways of attracting users to a site and engaging them as members, repeat visitors, or customers.

This is known as conversion, when a user is successfully directed by the website architecture, links, and general marketing strategies, to cross the divide from casual visitor to committed user, usually by making a purchase or gaining their membership.

Some ways to keep your visitors coming back for more are pretty simple in concept but sometimes we forget how important they really are.
  • Usability of the site:They need to be able to feel comfortable when they navigate the page,
  • you will be dealing with people from all over the world, so you want to make sure that they can read the site, allowing them to choose a language would help.
  • Allowing users to leave feedback or reviews would also give the added trust factor so that other users can get a sense of your reputation if you are selling a product or service.
  • allow room for conversation to grow between users, and the website by creating a customer help /question form where you can have access to a live operator.
Optimizing your e-commerce site with some of these suggestions can go along way in making your conversation rates go up.

Developing Keywords for your website

http://www.wordstream.com/seo-keyword

developing a list of keywords is one of the first and most important steps in any search engine optimization initiative.

A marketer attempting to optimize a web page for the "gourmet parakeet snacks" keyword group should consider doing most if not all of the following:
  • Using the keyword in the title of the page
  • Using the keyword in the URL (e.g., www.online-petstore.com/parakeets/snacks/gourmet)
  • Using the keyword, and variations (e.g., "gourmet parakeet snacks"), throughout the page copy
  • Using the keyword in the meta tags, especially the meta description
  • Using the keyword in any image file paths and in the images' alt text
  • Using the keyword as the anchor text in links back to the page from elsewhere on the site

Understanding How to Make Your site be found by Users

Using keywords correctly throughout a page and a website can be critical when you are trying to improve search engine ranking as part of your Internet marketing strategy.

There are several tools that let you enter your keywords and
then they will suggest additional keywords you might like to
consider, such as: adwords.google.co.uk/select/KeywordToolExternal
(When using this tool, select the"exact match" option rather than"broad match.")
www.wordtracker.com www.keyworddiscovery.com

The first and most obvious use of keywords during the organic search engine optimization (SEO) process is in the keywords Meta Tag located in the head section of the page's html code. After carefully choosing the keywords that are relevant to the particular page, these keywords should be placed in the Meta Keywords tag () in order from the largest to smallest phrase with the initial letter of each keyword capitalized. These same keywords should be placed strategically in the Title and Meta Description of the page. Search engines use the Title and Description () as a summary of what the page is about, so placing keyword within those tags is always helpful.

Search engines generally give more weight to the first 200 words within a page. Therefore, it is very important to make sure that keywords are used appropriately near the top of the page and proportionally throughout the page. The Keyword Density Analyzer within the SEOToolset is an excellent SEO tool to help in visualizing the distribution of keywords throughout the page. It is also important to consider the use of keywords in headings and anchor text (link text) when you are trying to improve search engine ranking. Using SEO keywords appropriately within headings gives emphasis to the importance of those particular keywords to the theme of the page.

Headings should be used as short descriptions (1-5 words) of the subject matter that follows, similarly to the way roman numerals are used in an outline. Incorporating keywords into these heading tags gives priority to these keywords in terms of their relevance.

Important Links to learn How to use keywords

Trying to improve search engine ranking is part of your Internet marketing strategy. You need to add optimized keywords

What is a spider? They are tools used by search engines to find your website, Search Engine Optimization (SEO)  :SEO is a highly specialized field that encompasses basic and sophisticated methods to enable search engines to find and index a website.  A crawler-based site like Google and Bing have "spiders," or software programs, that "crawl" through the millions of websites on the Internet.  The search engines gather information about a site and give that site a ranking on quality, usefulness, unique visitors, etc.

The two basic things a search engine ranks are:
  • Is the page what it claims to be?  and
  • How many users or repeat users does the site have?

Taking care of the search engine spiders likes and dislikes can prove to be crucial for the health and success of your website.Search engines gather data about a website by sending' the spider or bots to read' the site and copy its content.

Free Diagraming Tools

Before  worring about the style or appearance of your  new website (color, fonts, images), the first step is to design a wire frame so that you can go over all of the sites functionality of the sites pages.
A wire frame should include primary navigation, a space for a logo, heading, space for the main body of text, and user log in .

Other elements to consider would be ; a place for users to post comments, a search box, a product or feature that is up for a limited time,  a link to blog posts,  location of news, an events calender, or other content appropriate to your websites goals.

Here are some usual links to help you build a wire frame , for free and other tools;

Decades of Theatre Benefit Gala
To commemorate 42 Years of Resident Theatre in Brooklyn
Ryan Repertory Company
will hold a fun and exciting evening

Decades of Theatre Benefit Gala

with a performance of the
entertaining and adventurous multimedia show
Decades Apart: Reflections of Three Gay Men by Rick Pulos and directed by Ryan Rep co-founder Barbara Parisi.

A private party will follow with
the amazing NYC based
DJ Jene
spinning songs from each decade of Ryan Rep's long history.

Saturday, November 15th
Doors Open: 4:30 PM
Decades Apart:6:00 PM
Buffet Dinner and Dancing: 7:30-9:30 PM
Tickets: $60
(No discounts accepted for this event)

Decades Apart opened the first ever Long Island Fringe Festival in fall 2009 to a reaction none of the producers could predict: homophobic outbursts and downright disgust at the material. Pulos and Parisi hope to spur controversy and conversation with this new staging of the play, and to inspire compassion towards the many modulations of gayness that have evolved throughout American history. The stories in Decades Apart are very candid and are suitable for mature audiences only.

Chicago Stage Style raves that Decades Apart demonstrates "real innovation[s] in gay theatre" and that the text is "a provocative and thought provoking picture of same-sex proclivities and issues. If the response to Pulos' World Premiere was any indication, this is a work that can really get blood boiling out there, and isn't that one of the benchmarks of great theatre?"

The Ryan Repertory Company was founded in 1972 and is named after Irene Ryan, most famous for her role as Granny in television's long-running The Beverly Hillbillies. She was a leading performer in theatre, film and television and her name remains synonymous with quality work in every aspect of entertainment. Ryan Rep is a center for the development of new and original theatrical events. The Company's home is the Harry Warren Theatre, named in honor of the great composer, and is located in Brooklyn, NY.

Dear Joan Rivers

The untimely death of a legend, I will always be grateful to Joan Rivers because she came along in a mans world of comedy and totally brought it to a whole new level of funny and left her mark.

No man or woman before her or I feel, will ever, come near her brand of original material. She was genuinely a bad ass. She didn't care if she offended because it was what she felt. It was real, and she made you think. I will appreciate her work and will always admire her strength and courage. I recommend "Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work" as required viewing to give you an idea of how talented and hard working this woman was. I mean, after this film was made, her career went to even greater heights, and was working on more projects than ever before. Juggling TV shows, fashion commentaries, award events, red carpets, and book launches. She appreciated life and never took anything for granted. She gave so much of her time and money to charities that made a difference. Most of all I admire her because she was a fellow NY Girl, who dreamed big, from Brooklyn and made it.

Jamming on my electric guitar

I have had an electric guitar for a few years now and I never take it out. I feel like I have been missing out on my creative side. I connected it to my ipad with I-Rig and it works perfectly!
the next step I need to take now is to actually learn to read the notes. Im feeling inspired so I am gonna make it a goal of mine to play at least 1 hour a day . No excuses!

Communications and Media

Today I continued my journey towards earning a baccalaureate degree in Communications and Media by registering for the fall semester. Whats great about these courses is that they are all offered online by CUNY, at the school of professional studies. If you want to get a new degree or want to change careers, or just learn something new, I highly recommend them. It's never been more convenient than now to learn online.
I never knew how rewarding it would be, I would have signed up much earlier!

My website

As many of you may know, I run one of the few Madonna fansites that is always up to date with the latest and most important breaking news on madonna. Since 2000, Madonna even chose my site as her favorite through a Rollingstone Magazine "Biggest online fan" contest!  I couldn't be more honored that shes heard about my site.

If you want to be on top of her new album news and any tour information, then don't wait, join our facebook page and visit Madonnasworld.com . Add us to your favorites! You can also follow us on
Twitter
and
Instagram where we have over 2k followers.
See for yourself, why its the only fansite recommended by madonna, herself!

Party Promoting

One thing that I am proud of is my run of successful Madonnathon parties. I have many people to thank for helping me bring them to the next level and they are my best friend Amber Flynn , Jeremy Rizzi and Billy Armas.
We were featured inside NEXT magazine last month and I couldnt be happier!
Take a look , and read the article here!

Mademoiselle C

I'm currently enjoying watching 'Mademoiselle C' It's a documentary on a french stylist, Carine Roitfeld, that used to work for PARIS VOGUE for 10 years and left to start her own fashion magazine. Once she made this move, however , she quickly learned who her real friends in the industry were. Shes an incredibly talented stylist who's worked with the biggest names in fashion. This film gives you a glimpse inside her daily  life, and what its like to walk inside the biggest night of fashion in NYC, the MET GALA. You can see it for yourself, now on NETFLIX or AMAZON.com
