Enhancing converstion rates

In my class this week, we are exploring various ways of attracting users to a site and engaging them as members, repeat visitors, or customers.

This is known as conversion, when a user is successfully directed by the website architecture, links, and general marketing strategies, to cross the divide from casual visitor to committed user, usually by making a purchase or gaining their membership.

Some ways to keep your visitors coming back for more are pretty simple in concept but sometimes we forget how important they really are.
  • Usability of the site:They need to be able to feel comfortable when they navigate the page,
  • you will be dealing with people from all over the world, so you want to make sure that they can read the site, allowing them to choose a language would help.
  • Allowing users to leave feedback or reviews would also give the added trust factor so that other users can get a sense of your reputation if you are selling a product or service.
  • allow room for conversation to grow between users, and the website by creating a customer help /question form where you can have access to a live operator.
Optimizing your e-commerce site with some of these suggestions can go along way in making your conversation rates go up.

Developing Keywords for your website

http://www.wordstream.com/seo-keyword

developing a list of keywords is one of the first and most important steps in any search engine optimization initiative.

A marketer attempting to optimize a web page for the "gourmet parakeet snacks" keyword group should consider doing most if not all of the following:
  • Using the keyword in the title of the page
  • Using the keyword in the URL (e.g., www.online-petstore.com/parakeets/snacks/gourmet)
  • Using the keyword, and variations (e.g., "gourmet parakeet snacks"), throughout the page copy
  • Using the keyword in the meta tags, especially the meta description
  • Using the keyword in any image file paths and in the images' alt text
  • Using the keyword as the anchor text in links back to the page from elsewhere on the site

Understanding How to Make Your site be found by Users

Using keywords correctly throughout a page and a website can be critical when you are trying to improve search engine ranking as part of your Internet marketing strategy.

There are several tools that let you enter your keywords and
then they will suggest additional keywords you might like to
consider, such as: adwords.google.co.uk/select/KeywordToolExternal
(When using this tool, select the"exact match" option rather than"broad match.")
www.wordtracker.com www.keyworddiscovery.com

The first and most obvious use of keywords during the organic search engine optimization (SEO) process is in the keywords Meta Tag located in the head section of the page's html code. After carefully choosing the keywords that are relevant to the particular page, these keywords should be placed in the Meta Keywords tag () in order from the largest to smallest phrase with the initial letter of each keyword capitalized. These same keywords should be placed strategically in the Title and Meta Description of the page. Search engines use the Title and Description () as a summary of what the page is about, so placing keyword within those tags is always helpful.

Search engines generally give more weight to the first 200 words within a page. Therefore, it is very important to make sure that keywords are used appropriately near the top of the page and proportionally throughout the page. The Keyword Density Analyzer within the SEOToolset is an excellent SEO tool to help in visualizing the distribution of keywords throughout the page. It is also important to consider the use of keywords in headings and anchor text (link text) when you are trying to improve search engine ranking. Using SEO keywords appropriately within headings gives emphasis to the importance of those particular keywords to the theme of the page.

Headings should be used as short descriptions (1-5 words) of the subject matter that follows, similarly to the way roman numerals are used in an outline. Incorporating keywords into these heading tags gives priority to these keywords in terms of their relevance.

Important Links to learn How to use keywords

Trying to improve search engine ranking is part of your Internet marketing strategy. You need to add optimized keywords

What is a spider? They are tools used by search engines to find your website, Search Engine Optimization (SEO)  :SEO is a highly specialized field that encompasses basic and sophisticated methods to enable search engines to find and index a website.  A crawler-based site like Google and Bing have "spiders," or software programs, that "crawl" through the millions of websites on the Internet.  The search engines gather information about a site and give that site a ranking on quality, usefulness, unique visitors, etc.

The two basic things a search engine ranks are:
  • Is the page what it claims to be?  and
  • How many users or repeat users does the site have?

Taking care of the search engine spiders likes and dislikes can prove to be crucial for the health and success of your website.Search engines gather data about a website by sending' the spider or bots to read' the site and copy its content.
